What goes into a ByNyla bag — and what we choose to leave out.

What We Use

We work with materials that feel considered, perform well over time, and let us keep our standards on origin and welfare without compromise.

Vegan Leather

Our outers are made from high-grade vegan leather, primarily PU-based, with plant-derived options where the supply chain allows. The hand is supple. The grain is consistent. With reasonable care, it ages quietly rather than cracking or peeling.

Recycled Lining

Inside each bag we use recycled fabric lining — soft to the touch, durable to the pull. It keeps content out of landfill and adds a little quiet comfort to the inside of every piece.

Stainless Hardware

Zips, rings, and clasps are stainless, finished in muted tones rather than bright plating. Stainless resists tarnish, holds its shape, and keeps the focus on the silhouette rather than the metal.

What We Don't Use

  • No animal leather.
  • No fur, shearling, or down.
  • No exotic skins.
  • No PVC where it can reasonably be avoided.
  • No virgin plastic in linings where a recycled option exists.

This is not a moral position pinned to a press release — it is the brief we give every supplier we work with.

How to Care for Your Bag

Vegan leather is forgiving, but a few small habits will keep your piece looking its best for years.

  • Spot-clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid soaps and solvents.
  • Dry naturally if it gets caught in the rain. Dab, don't rub.
  • Store in the dust bag it arrived in, loosely stuffed to hold its shape.
  • Avoid prolonged sun — long direct exposure can dull the finish over time.
  • Keep away from sharp edges, oily hands, and dark denim, which can transfer.

Sustainability, Stated Plainly

Vegan means no animal-derived material in any piece. Fair production means we work only with partners whose factories meet recognised labour standards. Longevity means we design for years of wear rather than a season of newness. None of this is unique to us — but together, with consistency, it is what we believe a modern accessories brand should look like.
